Here come the Emmy’s!!!
I LOVE awards shows! And I LOVE TV! And the EMMY’S are on Sunday! Yay!!
Programming notes:
Joey Fatone and Lisa “The Lips” Rinna are taking over for Joan and Melissa Rivers on the red carpet for the TV Guide station. Oh, you never figured out which channel that was? Me either.
It’s at 8 pm ET on Fox this Sunday night, and Ryan Seacrest will be hosting.
Here are my picks for the important categories. And by my picks I mean who I WANT to win, not WHO will actually win.
DRAMA
Outstanding Drama Series
“Boston Legal” (ABC)
“Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
“Heroes” (NBC)
“House” (Fox)
The Winner: “The Sopranos” (HBO)
* I still have “Don’t Stop Belivin’” in my head from the finale.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
James Gandolfini, “The Sopranos” (HBO)
Hugh Laurie, “House” (Fox)
The Winner: Denis Leary, “Rescue Me” (FX)
James Spader, “Boston Legal” (ABC)
Kiefer Sutherland, “24” (Fox)
*I watch all of these shows, and Denis Leary deserves to win (even though he’ll lose to Gandolfini, who I also love, but he always wins and it’s another day, c’mon c’mon).
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Patricia Arquette, “Medium” (NBC)
Minnie Driver, “The Riches” (FX)
The Winner: Edie Falco, “The Sopranos” (HBO)
Sally Field, “Brothers & Sisters” (ABC)
Mariska Hargitay, “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (NBC)
Kyra Sedgwick, “The Closer” (TNT)
*Honestly, I only watched the Sopranos. Go Edie!
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Michael Emerson, “Lost” (ABC)
The Winner: Michael Imperioli, “The Sopranos” (HBO)
T.R. Knight, “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
Terry O’Quinn, “Lost” (ABC)
Masi Oka, “Heroes” (NBC)
William Shatner, “Boston Legal” (ABC)
*Michael Imperioli was SO good this season (even though he died, but whatever). I’d also be happy with a Shatner win, because I love Boston Legal and he’s so good on that show! And TR is cool, I wouldn’t throw things at the tv screen if he won.
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Lorraine Bracco, “The Sopranos” (HBO)
Rachel Griffiths, “Brothers & Sisters” (ABC)
The Winner: Katherine Heigl, “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
Sandra Oh, “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
Aida Turturro, “The Sopranos” (HBO)
Chandra Wilson, “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC)
*Any of these chicks from Greys would be fine by me. But, I really thought Katherine rocked last season (and I have a girl-crush on her). Chandra’s character got screwed by the writers, cause I love her. And Sandra just belongs on the big screen.
COMEDY
Outstanding Comedy Series
“Entourage” (HBO)
The Winner: “The Office” (NBC)
“30 Rock” (NBC)
“Two and a Half Men” (CBS)
“Ugly Betty” (ABC)
*No contest. The Office wins or I’m turning off the tv.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Alec Baldwin, “30 Rock” (NBC)
The Winner: Steve Carell, “The Office” (NBC)
Ricky Gervais, “Extras” (HBO)
Tony Shalhoub, “Monk” (USA Network)
Charlie Sheen, “Two and a Half Men” (CBS)
*No contest. Tony Shaloub has won enough times, right??
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series
America Ferrera, “Ugly Betty” (ABC)
Tina Fey, “30 Rock” (NBC)
Felicity Huffman, “Desperate Housewives” (ABC)
Julia Louis-Dreyfus, “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (CBS)
The Winner: Mary-Louise Parker, “Weeds” (Showtime)
*Mary-Louise Parker is the cool chick you wish would have talked with you in high school. She should win everything, every time.
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series
Jon Cryer, “Two and a Half Men” (CBS)
The Winner: Kevin Dillon, “Entourage” (HBO)
Jeremy Piven, “Entourage” (HBO)
Neil Patrick Harris, “How I Met Your Mother” (CBS)
Rainn Wilson, “The Office” (NBC)
*Kevin Dillon tried to pick me up in a (dark) bar back in ‘93 and I haven’t gotten over it. Anyway - he was the highlight of the show this year.
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series
Conchata Ferrell, “Two and a Half Men” (CBS)
The Winner: Jenna Fischer, “The Office” (NBC)
Jaime Pressly, “My Name is Earl” (NBC)
Holland Taylor, “Two and a Half Men” (CBS)
Vanessa Williams, “Ugly Betty” (ABC)
Elizabeth Perkins, “Weeds” (Showtime)
*Love Jenna Fischer!
